Refrigerator Nut Cookies

1 c  Granulated sugar
1 c  Butter or margarine;-softened
2    Eggs
1 1/2 ts Vanilla
3 c  Flour
1 ts Salt
1/2 ts Baking soda
1/2 c  Pecans; chopped
In a large bowl, mix sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, salt, baking soda and nuts.  Divide dough into 3 parts. Shape each part into a roll.  Wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate at least 4 hours. Preheat oven to 400. cut dough into 1/8 inch slices. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.  Bake until light brown, about 7 to 9 minutes. Cinnamon Slices:  Substitute 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 cup packed brown sugar for the sugar and 1 T. cinnamon for the vanilla; omit the nuts.
